Chrachenhorn: via the NW ridge

Ascent5 hours

From Monstein, follow the trail (towards the E) which leads to the Oberalp chalets (1913m) while remaining on the orographical right bank of Oberalp Bach. From the chalets, descend about thirty meters to traverse the water-course thanks to a bridge. You enter a forest (towards the SW) on steeper slopes to emerge at the end of NW broad ridge. Go up it for approximately 3km as far as the summit.

Descent

By the same route if the snow cover is sufficient in the forest. If that is not possible, around 2300m, fork towards the N to reach Fanezmeder. From there, follow a small track (towards the NW) which leads to the Oberalp chalets where the ascent route is found.
