Cime du Mercantour: Via Lac Cerise

Climb: From the Gite 1530m, follow the road for the chalets until point 1588m. Take the trail on the left (towards Col de Cerise) until 1750m or until you arrive at a wooded flat area (skis are generally put on here). Go up the dale of Cavalet remaining more on the left bank then in the same dale to the Lac de Cerise at 2223m. Continue via the scoop until 2300m then leave over the slopes on the right and by an S reach the Lac du Mercantour at 2454m. Pass on the right of the lake and go up a small wall which makes it possible to reach the summit scoop that you climb as far as the summit.

Descent: By the same route.

Descent variant: it is possible to traverse on the Guilié scoop. From the summit return until the small pass (point 2636m) then descend an E-SE facing corridor (200m at 40°) then of beautiful slopes which lead back the Guilié scoop. From there descend the dale of the same name to the cow barn of Erps 1749m and finish on foot via the trail which leads to the gîte du Boréon. (AD, S4)
