Col de la Pyramide: Western face

A large classic route with a broad continuous high altitude slope, offering a view and exceptional thrills.

From the summit of the Pic Blanc tram, which often opens late (11:00) if there is a snowfall or strong wind, ski towards the north without losing too much altitude. Take off your skis and continue climbing north in the direction of the pass (20 minutes). Immediately after the pass, the start is steep and often in hard snow blown by the wind, which makes it even more impressive. After 30m, the slope widens and becomes slightly gentler. Go to the left (south) to avoid the rocks at the bottom. You reach the Petites Rouses tram via Les Perrins (southern entry) or the Canyon de la Fare, that you reach by passing Lac de la Fare to the north.

Variant (more exposed and difficult depending on the conditions and time of day): Under of the slope, you can also go completely towards the north to traverse Plan des Cavales until Col du Couard. From there a broad corridor leads to the Vllonnets piste which descends to Vaujany. Be careful not to release accumulations of snow or avalanches of damp snow on the slopes of Col du Couard.
