Dôme de la Lauze: Chirouze

Large descent over high mountain ground where the route is hard to find and it is difficult to encounter favourable snow conditions.

From Dôme de la Lauze, descend the glacier towards the north in the direction of spot elevation 2801. At the altitude 2900m, traverse on the right under a rock band with seracs above it to descend to the east of point 2801. Descend (completely north) the broad scoop which follows via its left edge. At the altitude of 2300m, traverse towards the west above a very marked ravine. Go diagonally to the left to reach a large square rock (indicated on the map at the altitude of 2100m) then two large larches and finally a wooded corridor which leads back in the main part of the Chirouze ravine. These traverses are exposed. By easy slopes and a trail (not always snow covered), you reach the bridge (1319m) which joins RN 91 uphill from the avalanche barriers of Grand Clot.
