Gross Grünhorn: W Face (Normal Route)

Approach

From the Konkordia Hut
Traverse NW the Konkordiaplatz to go up the true left bank of the Ewigschneefäld (crevassed) until the end of the seracs, level with Pte 3135m.
From the Mönchjoch Hut
Descend easily (on skis) the Ewigschneefäld, to reach the Pte 3135m on the true left bank. It is possible to cut the corner if the crevasses are well filled.

Route

At the level of Pte 3135m, go NE up along the foot of the SE spur of the Grunegghorn (big crevasses).  To the N of Pte 3537m,  go diagonally to the Eun a glaciated ramp under the impressive seracs of the  Grünnegghorn,  to reach an unnamed, snowy col at about 3790m,to the NE of the Grünnegghorn).  If conditions allow, continue up the face to the bergschrund (3900m) where you can leave the skis.  Reach the SW ridge and follow this easily to the summit, (a move or two of II.)
