Pointe d'Andey: E Face (normal Route)

Solaison is a lovely Haute Savoyard "hidden gem", just over an hour's drive from Chamonix.  Excellent cross country ski pistes with material hire at reasonable prices.

From Brizon

Route

Follow, avoiding the pistes, the ski lifts along the sides of the woods  to reach the Solaison plateau.  Near the top of the 2nd ski lift turn right, NW, to go up the nice slopes to the summit.
Variant : From the hairpin just before the 2nd ski lift, (reservoir) you can take the forest track, passing the Granges d'Amont, then the Crotte and Bonnavaz.  From the last chalets go due S to reach the main E face devoid of fir trees. Follow the ridge to the summit.

Descent

Keep well to the E, between little fir trees, to ski some nice slopes, (some sections of S3), to regain Brizon, clearly visible from the summit.

From Solaison

Route

From the parking just beyond the Gite la Frutière, go NW towards the chalets.  After a flat section, go N to reach the E face which you go up to the summit.
