Pointe de la Masse: La Combe de Géffriand

From the Ménuires station, go to the summit of the Lac Noir chair lift next to Pointe de la Masse. You can also reach this point, from the summit of the Masse, via the red Crêtes piste.

From the summit of the chair lift, go completely north while climbing slightly (10 meters) under rocks then in descent to reach Col de la Bache. From the pass, go up towards the summit of La Gratte on foot continuing completely to the north and following the croup on the left in half an hour. You can cut across by passing to the eastern slope of La Gratte around the altitude of 2570 meters.

From La Gratte, slightly descend the eastern slope to more easily reach the summit of Combe de Géffriand. Descend this broad and pretty northern facing scoop very easily to arrive at the Géffriand chalets on the left bank via the bottom of the valley. This is not a precise route, you can go where you want. From the Géffriand chalets, traverse to the North still on the left bank in slight descent on easygoing slopes to pass in front of another abandoned chalet at 1830 meters. Continue towards the other chalets at elevation 1785 on the map. Follow the croup to the northeast which plunges to the north at the end near the Motte chalets. Follow the croup carefully, the route threads through green alders.

From the Motte chalets, descend in the meadows to reach the bridge, and the Aux Iles cross-country piste. From here there are two solutions: follow the cross-country piste until Saint Martin with ski lifts or call a restaurant owner in Saint Martin who will come and get you in a taxi. From Saint Martin there are ski lifts for returning to Ménuires.
